Kim Bear

Kim Bear has been competing in local multisports
and mountain bike racing since 1992. She considered herself a "fun" athlete
until attempting the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race in 1995. Then she
was caught up in the challenge of finishing with better times. Kim
didn't have the confidence to try adventure racing until she attended Barry
Siff and Liz Caldwell's adventure racing camp in 2000. She finally
did her first race with Team Santa Fe at a Four Winds Mountain Rage race
in May of 2000. After this inital success, she ended up doing the next two
races with the team; finishing the series with an overall standing of third
place.
A few of her additional accomplishments are:

- First ever Leadwoman 2003 - Leadville, CO races
- Requires finishing five races (bike and
run) in Leadville over the summer:
- Leadville 100 bike, 100 mile run, Marathon,
Silver Rush bike, 10K run
- La Ruta de Los Conquistadores, Costa Rica,
2003; 18th place F
- "the toughest mountain bike race on the planet"
- 24 Hours of Adrenalin Mountain Bike Race,
Phoenix, AZ, 2003;
- Eco-Challenge Fiji, Fiji Islands; 2002
- Balance Bar 24 Hour Race, Santa Monica, CA;

Kim Bear, born in 1956, is a family nurse practitioner
married to Jan and mother of two daughters. She lives in Santa Fe, NM.
