A fast and fun 12 Hour mountain bike race in sunny warm Arizona. We went back again this year but I was on the sidelines with a broken left index finger so was there to support Kim who rode with Deb. K. Kim did 3 laps and Deb did 4 laps of the 16 miles course.

A 34 mile mountain bike race with a little bit of sand, hard pack, ball bearing rocks and gravel mixed with 3500 feet of climbing and tight twisty turns. Fun but hard!
A great fundraiser for the Green Beret Foundation, held this year at the Veterans Memorial Park in Albuquerque for the second year in a row. A very nice 3.2 mile course that wanders through the beautiful park.
This year's race was based at the Gunstock Reservoir. The water temperature was 62 degrees so time for the wetsuit! Both the run and bike portions of the race were significantly more hilly this year.
A fairly straightforward course 14.5 miles long. Slightly long than last year but generally the same course. A real good course for the riders with good power!
The 42nd Annual Road Apple Rally! The course is generally the same year to year the last several years. This year it was very dry and sandy and there was a cross wind on the way out and the way back. But always a fast fun course!
I crossed the finish with the 2nd & 3rd place riders after pulling them in the headwind for over a mile but couldn't drop them so I got schooled and finished last in the bunch.
A very long desert course on a very hot day just north of Las Cruces in the Dona Ana Mountains. The Cat 1 race was 35 miles long and had about 3000 feet of climbing and the temperature was 92 degrees at the finish.
A great mountain bike race at the Oak Flats Campground outside of Albuquerque in the Manzano Mountains. I teamed up with Tom E. of the CORE Crew for this event that was shortened to 7 hours due to a muddy course after a heavy rain the night before the race. The course was a 10.2 mile route with about 900 feet of climbing per lap with some techy rock sections and fast flowy sections as well.
This event involves 11 different disciplines done as fast as possible, similar to crossfit. The events were; rowing machine, tire flips, spartan pull, ground to overhead lifts, sandbag run with obstacles, sled pull, yoke carry, balance beam, overhead lunges with sit-ups, medicine ball toss and water wade with weight.
The 39 annual Record Challenge in Moriarty, NM. The race has a lot of history in regards to setting time trial national records. The race for Kim and I was 20K.
This was or 18th Annual La Tierra Mountain Bike Race. We changed the course a little with a few punchy short climbs and twisty descents. And of course we had to have the Whoops.
Ries and I had a good race despite the hot weather getting in a total of 9 laps, the fastest in 1:05 and the slowest in 1:16. Ries made me do the start lap with the Le Mans start.
A fast and flowy 9 mile course in the Galisteo Basin. This race is a fund raiser for the trail system. Kim and I both raced on different teams. Kim was on the Racing Volunteers and I was on the Racing Officials team.
The overall results after 8 days and 648K with 15000M of climbing our total time was 44:42.52.1. We ended up in 5th place out of 19, 60+ men's teams that started the race. We were pleased with our results as after 7 nights in a tent with harsh conditions, mechanicals issues and body issues it is really tough racing!! Thanks Phil for toughing it out!!
This is a 8 day mountain bike stage race in South Africa that covers 648K and 15000M of climbing. It is done with a partner and you must stay within 2 minutes of your partner throughout the race. It is considered one of the toughest mountain bike races in the world. A 16 mile team time trial with 875M of climbing. We finished in 3rd place out of 19 teams.
A 24 hour Mountain Bike Race that has been happening for 23 years. The course is a 16 mile fast desert course with rocks, sand, lots of cactus and fun twisty turns.

Kim's team was a group of guys from El Paso, team name "12 Hours of Old El Paso". She did 3 laps, 1:22, 1:34 and 1:32. She was a replacement for Susie E.
A fun and interesting race in the heart of Tempe, AZ. Some rough technical terrain and fast hard-packed gravel along the canal riding. Each lap was 6.6 miles long with a run through a long culvert twice each lap that was dark and had two way traffic. The climbing was not insignificant with about 450 feet of climbing each lap. Considering each lap had a flat 2.5-3 miles along the canal there were some tough rocky climbs.
A very tough 50 mile mountain bike in the Franklin Mountains on the outskirts of El Paso. I think this is the toughest 50 mile mountain bike race due to the technical terrain and you are constantly going up or down. I rode the course with Pile Simpson my Cape Epic partner this year.
